When and how did you become a couple?
Both our spouses dies several years ago, and neither one of us was looking for love, but we both found it. We live at the same retirement community, and Lois was the only one in the whole place that caught my eye. After spending weeks talking to my friends about how to get back in the game, I finally worked up the nerve to ask her out to dinner, and wouldn't you know it, she was busy. I asked her two more times, and each time, she said she was busy. But her schedule finally cleared up, and she agreed to meet for dessert at a local restaurant. Luckily for us, there was dancing at the restaurant, and that's when the magic struck us. She is a terrific dancer. And after the dance, we looked at each other, and that was the moment we both knew.
Why you are the “Most Romantic Senior Couple”?
We have been dating since that day four years ago, but there came a point when I wanted to show her that I wasn't just fooling around. But she wasn't looking to get married again, because she wants to remain in charge of the TV clicker! So we found a wonderful solution: I presented her with a beautiful ring, and although we are committed and devoted to each other, there are no wedding plans in our future and we still live in our own separate apartments. But we talk on the phone every morning, we get together every night for cocktail hour, have travelled the world together, and between the two of us we enjoy 7 children and 17 grandchildren!
